Join us this summer for an immersive experience in Colombia and learn how to apply Social Innovation to build social good!

Social Innovation Bootcamp

During 3 intensive days we will work with avulnerable community in the co-creation ofsolutions to the social problems they identifyin their context. Here we will apply themethodologies and tools learned in thevirtual sessions.

In addition, you will learn:
  • To develop sustainable bonds with the community.
  • To analyze problems and actors from a systemic perspective.
  • The basics of social project formulation.
  • To co-create creative solutions.
  • To prototype solution ideas.
Sabio Mutis Agropark
We will visit for 2 days this eco-museum whose main objective is to conserve nature and keep alive the work of the botanist José Celestino Mutis. We will immerse ourselves in some of the five museums of the Agroparkand learn about the peasant culture and the history of emblematic agricultural products for the region (i.e. sugar cane juice and rum)
Creo en el Agro
We will visit for 4 days the coffee-growing area of Viotá, about 3 hours from Bogotá, where the organization Creo en el Agro will share its experience of social innovation creating community processes with more than 100 victims of the armed conflict and forced displacement in this area of the country.
During this time:
  • You will work with coffee growers to better understand their context and propose a solution to a challenge they have.
  • You will learn about the coffee production and commercialization process, based on associative work. You will taste cup profiles directly from the farms. problemáticas desde un enfoque sistémico.
Urban Experiences
We will tour hidden gems in downtown Bogota and other parts of the city to learn about social innovations in the urban area. With this, you will be able to take home inspiring ideas and learn more about the social dynamics of the leading city for foreign investment in Latin America, which is at the same time the capital of the third most unequal country in the world.
Virtual meetings
In these synchronous meetings we will focus on:
  • Deepening in conceptual frameworks of Social Innovation and some examples.
  • Approaching the Social Innovation Route, its stages and steps, in order to be able to apply it in Colombia in practical exercises.
  • Prepare for the Creo en el Agro Challenge, where we will work with farmers to propose solutions to one of the problems they face in the process of production and transformation of coffee.
Overview
Join us in this course where you will have a hands-on experience to learn how to apply social innovation to co-design solutions that improve the living conditions of vulnerable communities! Learn to listen, empathize and design solutions from your area of knowledge, working hand in hand with Colombian communities and students. After the course you will be able to:
  • Understand and analyze social problems from a systemic and contextualized approach.
  • Apply creative tools for the co-design of solutions that allow incorporating different points of view.
  • Work on design challenges to address complex problems.
  • Put your knowledge and skills at the service of the common good.

This fee includes course
registration, all ground

1 to 3 Credit transfer: 

You can transfer the credits from this course to your university for the equivalent of 1 to 3 credits depending on the credit-transfer policies of your school”
